Spring Break Camp Recap

Spring Break Camp 2017

Taltree’s first Spring Break Camp was a great success. Campers started their week learning about plants and how they grow. Each student created their own “Garden in a Glove”. Camp staff had to replant their “garden” because the plants have been getting so big! On Tuesday, our guest naturalists taught campers about birds. Campers measured their “wingspan” and then identified which bird species aligned with that length. We had a lot of Great Horned Owls! During the week, we collected natural items likes sticks and leaves to create different projects including a “Twirling Twig Mobile” and “Insect Hotel”. We conducted a few experiments but our favorite involved hard boiled eggs and food colored. Campers explored the benefits of animals that lay eggs with hard-shells and the problems animals like amphibians have with polluted water.  Even though the weather tested us with a lot of rainy days, we were still able to get out and hike and play fun games outside. If spending your days hiking, conducting experiments, creating projects and making new friends sounds fun, check out our summer program- Camp Quercus!
