How to Clean and Sharpen Loppers
Visiting public gardens like those at Taltree is a great way to collect ideas for plants to use in your own landscape. While most gardeners don’t have the space we do (Taltree’s cultivated gardens cover just under 15 acres.), we still are limited by the same climate and soil conditions as home gardeners. The roses in the Hitz Family Rose garden were chosen for ease of care and hardiness. Plants in our Welcome Garden, Meyer Memorial Pavilion Garden and Native Plant Garden were selected for their ability to stand up to the elements. Our elements, like those of the home gardener, include rabbits and deer as well as a variety of insects and diseases. Keeping plants healthy is the best way to stave off insect and disease damage. And keeping plants healthy is much less of a chore if the right plants are used in the right place. Check out our Plants of Merit page, where we will post photos of the best and the brightest plants in our gardens.
