All Aboard the Polar Express!

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!
Come to our Polar Express party. We’ll have crafts, cocoa, cookies, and of course, a reading of The Polar Express by South Shore Arts Executive Director John Cain. Bring your holiday cheer, and welcome aboard! Kids are encouraged to dress in their pajamas. This event is appropriate for ages 5 through 10.
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!
Two Boarding Times:
10-11:45 am AND 11:45 am– 1:45 pm
$10 per child (includes one free adult admission)
$5 for each additional child
Seating is limited; participants must pre-register and pre-pay by November 21.

CANCELLED – Winter Tree Pruning
Taltree Groundsman Matt McBain will offer a hands-on pruning demonstration that will include advice on how to care for pruning tools. Learn how to sharpen, clean and disinfect your tools in order to keep your plants healthy. And then accompany Matt to the arboretum for a pruning demonstration that will illustrate the how, when and why we prune. Dress for the weather.

CANCELLED Introduction to Bonsai
Bonsai trees are an art that symbolize harmony, honor and patience. They are considered gestures of respect and convey good fortune upon the receiver. In this class you will learn the basics of caring for a bonsai tree such as history, different species, soils, shapes, pruning techniques, and more. Bonsai is a pleasant mix of form, thought and suggestion in a miniature world and like all good art, it endures.

Harvest Fest and Haunted Railway
Taltree Arboretum & Gardens is haunting its Railway Garden through the month of October. Like last year, visitors will be treated to a full out Boo-fest, featuring spooky trees, raving ravens and creepy crawlies. These ghoulish beings will haunt the buildings along the rail lines of the Taltree Railway Garden, joining the thousands of miniature plants, dozens of handmade bridges, and of course, an assemblage of G-gauge steam trains.
In addition to the Haunted Railway, Saturdays and Sundays in October will feature hayrides, story hour, crafts, hay bale maze, arrow maze and more! Bring the whole family for a hay wagon tour of the Taltree grounds. The kids will enjoy seasonal-themed story readings and original crafts. Pack a picnic or pick up a snack in the Depot. We will have cider and snacks to purchase, and some great seasonal items in the Taltree store.
- Saturdays and Sundays through the month from 10 am – 6 pm: Storybook reading of Pumpkin Circle: The Story of a Garden, and craft activity, “Acorn Pumpkins,” will take place in the Railway Garden Depot. Taltree Arboretum & Gardens will be closed on Tuesday, October 30 due to high wind warnings.
