Project Learning Tree
Students will learn about tree identification, participate in environmental education activities that focus on trees, and will learn how to present these activities.
Project Learning Tree uses the forest as a “window to the world,” helping young people gain an awareness and knowledge of the world around them and their place within it. PLT activities are hands-on interdisciplinary lessons that integrate easily into all subject areas. They are correlated to both state and national educational standards, useful to formal and non-formal educators from preschool through high school. Participants will receive the PLT Pre-K to 8th grade curriculum guide and supplementary materials.
Bring/wear: Sturdy Shoes, Camera, Field Guides, Warm Layer, Water Bottle, Pencil, Paper, Rain Coat, lunch.
This class is the botany section of the Master Naturalist Program, but Project Learning Tree can be taken as a stand-alone class as well.
For Docents:
The program is free for new and already-certified Taltree docents. New docents must take the Master Naturalist class and others offered through Taltree to become a docent. For more information, e-mail mgrimm@taltree.org.
