Wednesday, December 27: “How to be a Naturalist”
A naturalist studies nature and the interactions in an ecosystem. Campers will learn ways to observe nature, especially in the winter, and how to record those observations. Naturalists in the field keep journals with drawings, animal sightings and much more. This is a great start to becoming an explorer at Taltree!
Thursday, December 28: “Taltree Trains”
Everyone who visits our Railway Garden is immediately captivated with the trains and historical vignettes. Campers will get up close to the garden scale trains and learn about the upkeep, care and engineering that keeps them running through the season.
Wednesday, January 3: “Winter Weather”
December is quite a different time to explore than summer camp. During this day of camp, we will explore the unique winter weather and take a close look at water’s incredible transformation into snow.
Thursday, January 4: “Animal Adaptations to Winter”
During the winter, we put on coats, gloves, hats, and warm boots but what about animals? What happens to our feathered friends? How can frogs stay alive in below freezing temperatures? Do some animals have it easy because they sleep through the winter? We will answer these questions and more!
Cost: $45 for members/$50 for nonmembers (per child per day)
