Most of us know peonies as beautiful flowers until the next heavy rain storm knocks them to the ground. Jean Starr, secretary/editor of the Midwest Peony Society, and creator of the blog Petal Talk, will present a program that addresses ways to:

  • Mitigate storm damage
  • Stretch the peony season
  • Find the best varieties for your tastes and conditions
  • Choose optimal peony companions
  • Preserve peony blooms for later

This presentation will also cover the variety of peony forms, the pros and cons of different hybrids, how and when to stake, and how to keep the ants outside. Register by August 31 and receive a free peony with full payment. Cost for this class is $25 for nonmembers, $20 for members. Class will be held in the Taltree classroom, 71 North 500 West, Valparaiso, IN. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required by calling 219-462-0025.
