Celebrate America’s freedom the entire month of July!
The Made in the U.S.A. celebration will kick off on July 4th with free admission for active military personnel and veterans. Free admission with proper identification is valid for two people on July 4th only.
Weekends In July
The celebration continues every Saturday and Sunday in July at the Depot and Railway Garden with games, crafts, workshops, and train activities. During the weekends, children can be the Assistant Conductor at the Railway Garden. Their experience will begin with them receiving a hat, whistle, and bandanna so they can dress the part. Next, they will meet the Taltree Conductor and see where the trains are housed. Children will be able to pick their favorite train, learn a little about how to operate it, and then help operate the train from the basement to the tracks. Parents are encouraged to take pictures.
After being the conductor, little ones can become the passenger and hop aboard Taltree’s Sprout Express for a ride of their own. The Taltree Grill will be fired up offering food for purchase. On Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 28th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Hartland Locomotive Works will be on hand giving information about their trains and answering questions.
The Guest Conductor activity is $10 per child. Space is limited and reservations are strongly suggested. Reservations can be made online or by calling the office at 219-462-0025.
Sprout Express train rides are $2 and can be purchased in the gift store. All other activities are included with general admission.
