Holiday Lights – A Winter Celebration of Solar!

December 7, 2013 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

|Recurring Event (See all)
Every week until December 21, 2013
| $10 for up to 5 people; Members free

The prairie comes to life at night with solar-powered LED and fiber optics as the grass and prairie flowers blow sweetly in the breeze. The display begins with luminaries on the mounds and ends with the magnificent Signature Tree all aglow.

What is solar power? Utilization of panel absorbs the suns rays and converts it into an energy that can be stored in a battery. Then the battery energize the lights.

What are LEDs? This highly “green” and energy efficient form of lighting is caused by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material (i.e. silicon) verses the filament-style light bulb (i.e. traditional lamp bulbs). LED lights have a life span of five years or more and consume approximately 80% less electricity than traditional incandescent lights.

*Note: Because this is a solar-powered display, the lights don’t come on until after the sun goes down. Start time will vary by a few minutes each evening. Sunset will occur from approximately 4:15 pm to 4:25 pm over the duration of the event.

Head inside the Depot to visit with Santa!

Enter a wonderland of trains and sit on Santa’s knee near the Taltree Train Tree. Be sure to bring your camera to document this precious moment. Then make a Wish for the Environment  this holiday season and hang it on one of the Wishing Trees.

Still looking for great holiday gifts for everyone on your list? Taltree Store offers nature-inspired holiday, jewelry, home accessories and more. Grab one of our favorites like Taltree prairie honey, a Tiger trowel or a Silky saw.

Held every Friday and Saturday night 4 to 7 pm Thanksgiving until Christmas.
(November 29-30, December 6-7, December 13-14 and December 20-21)
