Butterfly Monitoring Workshop

This Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network (IBMN) workshop is designed for citizens interested in monitoring butterfly activities in the Northwest Indiana region. As a citizen scientist you’ll learn about butterfly biology, ecology and behavior and what it takes to identify butterflies for scientific research.
IBMN citizen scientist program monitor the health of butterfly populations by collecting quantitative data in northwest Indiana, northeast Illinois and central Illinois. The network’s goal is to provide standardized data to determined the changing landscape’s impact on butterfly populations. This collection process also provides documentation of the presence of rare, threatened and endangered species.
The network provides a variety of fellowship, information sharing, mentorship and continuing education opportunities for citizen scientists and professional biologists.
