Swallowtail Butterfly

As one of the special events for Hike for Your Health Month, this special hike highlights butterfly larval host and nectar plants throughout Taltree’s prairies and Native Plant Garden. Our experts will identify perennials that you can plant to attract butterflies to your own home garden, and put names to the wings of these lovely pollinators.

Although this is a free hike please preregister by calling 219-462-0025 or e-mailing reservations@taltree.org.  Meet in Taltree’s paved parking lot where Horticulture manager Patty Stimmel will start the tour.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather; wear comfortable, close-toed walking shoes. Re-usable water bottle.
  • Visitors will be walking on uneven ground, sometimes for long distances without drinking fountains and few benches.
