The Taltree Arboretum & Garden grounds become more formal at the Welcome Garden, which greets visitors with an ever-changing vista of color, shape and texture provided by an assembly of shrubs and perennials and blooming bulbs. A grove of Virginia pine adjacent to the gravel parking lot offers shelter to a variety of understory plants including ferns, hemlock, hornbeam and dogwood trees. A grove of young Japanese Stewartia trees growing through a carpet of ferns and daylilies lines the northwest side of the walking path to the Meyer Pavilion.
