We Count On Your Continued Support

As an organization whose goals include directing education and research in conservation, Taltree has taken the initiative toward the use of solar power. Funded in part by a grant from NIPSCO, Taltree’s Holiday Glow in the Garden illustrates just one example of how the sun can provide power, even in northwest Indiana. To learn more about this project, please attend this special event. And watch your mailbox for a letter explaining additional achievements and partnerships Taltree has initiated in the past year.

Happy Holidays from Taltree!

Get Your Glow On

This year’s garden glow is entirely “off the grid,” thanks in part to a grant from Nipsco. See Taltree’s Signature Oak lit with more than 3,000 lights and dozens of phosphorescent ornaments powered by the sun. Enjoy prairie flowers and grasses as they sway in the breeze, and stop in at the Railway Garden Depot, which has been outlined by LED lights.

Trumpeter Swans Settle In

Taltree’s Trumpeter Swans have been transferred to safer digs for the winter. An obstacle in bringing Trumpeter Swans back to Indiana is the abundance of coyotes. The swans have made themselves home in the pond inside the Railway Garden. Here, with the use of bubblers to keep the water from freezing and the fencing surrounding the garden, not only will they be safer, but guests will be able to get a closer look at them.

 Happy Thanksgiving!

But after a wonderful dinner, don’t forget …
